Moving into Metal Element
Transition to the Metal season: Fall
There’s an awareness now that the heat of summer(Fire) is fading. Crisp mornings after the humid heat of Summer days. and all that comes with fall. Trees letting go of their leaves. No longer needed for this year. The harvest season coming to an end. Closing up the garden. The cycle of life is moving forward. We move forward with it. Aligning with the messages this time of year gives us keeps us in tune with ourselves and the world around us.
It’s a time to look at what is no longer needed. What can be let go of?
Where is the accumulated stuff in my life ? Old ways of thinking? Outdated beliefs.and ideas? Activities? People? Stuff sitting unused in closets, attics and basements? This season asks you to look for a sense of authenticity and purpose and hone away what’s not needed.
What do I really need now and what can I let drop away in this time of letting go?
The lungs are one of the organs of the body associated with the metal element. Breath work in aligned with this coming Metal season. Give it a try. It might even be a simple as a few focused deep breaths as you go through the day. We all breathe shallowly especially under stress. ( and who isn’t stressed these days?).
A breathing meditation can be helpful. Mindfulness comes up here. Be in the moment of breathing. You are HERE …..in the in and out of the breath. Only that. In this moment. Not rushing ahead to open doors. Not looking back to close them. Be in this moment with yourself. A moment of peace. The peaceful inhale and exhale of the breath.
The Metal element is about order and predictability. You can align with it by setting a consistent predictable schedule. Think about the return to school and how that gives order and predictability to the days of Fall. The freewheeling days of Summer and vacation move naturally into the more scheduled days of Fall. This is the movement of Fire into Metal
As much as possible…..Awaken at the same time and go to bed at the same time each day. Have meals at the same time each day. Sink into the reliability of knowing what’s coming. Metal needs time to prepare for things. No surprises here! Predictable and reliable are the watchwords to help Metal step forward in your life.
